Relay control or PCB conrtol for AC rolling door motor

Relay Control

Relay control is commonly used in AC rolling door motors. 

Advantage: Simple in structure, low in cost, and easy to maintain, it is suitable for low-frequency use scenarios (such as home garages, small shops, and factory gates); it uses mechanical contact switches, eliminating the need for complex chips, thus having less stringent power supply requirements and strong compatibility.

 

Disadvantages: Mechanical contacts are prone to wear, with a lifespan typically less than 100,000 cycles; frequent switching can lead to poor contact, arcing, and burning; weak resistance to electromagnetic interference, making it prone to malfunctions in thunderstorms or industrial environments; lack of intelligent protection functions, overload or stalling can easily burn out the motor.

 

Circuit Board Control

Advantage: Employing solid-state relays (SSRs) or MOSFET electronic switches, with no mechanical contacts, its lifespan can reach over 1 million cycles; it boasts fast response speed (<10ms) and quiet operation (noise 35dB); it integrates overcurrent, overheat, locked rotor, and lightning protection for high safety; it supports intelligent linkage (such as infrared sensing and remote APP control); it is small in size, has strong anti-interference capabilities, and is suitable for high-temperature, high-humidity, and dusty environments.

 

Disadvantages: The cost is relatively high (approximately 2-3 times that of relay solutions); once damaged, the entire PCB board needs to be replaced, making repair difficult and reliant on specialized technicians; it is sensitive to power quality, and voltage fluctuations can easily cause chip failure.

 

Suitable scenarios: High-frequency use (average opening and closing > 20 times per day), industrial warehouses, logistics centers, intelligent parking garages, and other scenarios with high requirements for reliability, safety, and automation.

 

In reality, most roller door motor customers don't open and close their doors very frequently each day. Relay-type roller door motors are sufficient for daily use. And its cost friendly. For places that have high-frequecy using requirements, people prefer to choose pvc high speed doors and industrial type high speed doors.
