The weight of gate

If the sliding door weight is between 200 and 500 kg, a lightweight system is required. It is this structure that is most often mounted in country houses. In this case, the width of the opening, as a rule, is from 3 to 5 meters.

If the sliding door  weight from 500 to 1000 kg, systems are installed that facilitate work with weighted gate. In this case, the width of the opening is on average 6 meters.

Operators that allow heavy sliding gates to work are installed in various production plants and warehouses. In this case, the weight of the gate is about 1800 kg, and the width of opening is from 5 to 8 meters.

Intensity of use

This parameter defines the percentages. For example, there is an electric drive that operates at an intensity of 30%. In this case, the opening is 5 m. The gate opens in 30 seconds, and closes, respectively, in 30 seconds. The cycle is equal to one minute. We need to figure out how many such cycles our system can do in an hour, so we multiply 60 minutes and 30%. This means - 18 cars will be missed by our system during the time that we specified. There is plenty of such an indicator for gates in a country house.

Counterweight dimensions

 This parameter is important for cantilever sliding gates, where a counterweight helps balance the sash. The length of the counterweight, as a rule, is not less than half the width of the opening (or rather 50 or 40% of the width of the opening). Therefore, if the length of the counterweight is less than 40%, then the electric drive is chosen with a large power reserve, because such a design will require more effort to work.

Drive power

The drive documents will indicate the weight of the door leaf it is suitable for. But in order to choose a truly reliable unit, we recommend using electric drives with a 30 percent power reserve. And here's why: in the cold season, the door leaf can become icy, which means it will weigh more, additional power will be needed to move it, and the electric drive, which is operated at full strength, will begin to heat up more intensively and wear out sooner.
